DESCRIPTION OF THE DEPARTMENT

Purpose and Object of the Curriculum
The content of studies of the Department of Agriculture of the University of Ioannina covers the whole spectrum of Agricultural Science with emphasis on Crop Production and Animal Production. The mission of the Department is to promote the development and transmission of knowledge in science and technology in all areas of Crop and Animal Production, through teaching and applied research and to provide its students with the necessary supplies that ensure a thorough education. -training them for their scientific and professional career and development.
Upon completion of their studies, the Graduates of the Department acquire extensive scientific and technological knowledge and skills, so that they can be employed in all areas of the Department’s field of knowledge and can design and apply modern methods in the context of rational farming. with a view to both sustainable development and environmental protection.
In particular, the new Department follows a mixed undergraduate program where the first four semesters are common to all students and include core courses and basic subjects that support the specialized provision of knowledge in the following directions of Plant and Animal Production. The curriculum of the department follows the national and international standards of the agricultural university departments regarding its structure, so that the orientation of the undergraduate education is based on the international practice of the higher academic Institutions for the teaching of its subjects and its subjects. Animal production. According to this structure of the study program, the student has in essence the first two years of his studies as a time of infrastructure and understanding of the scope of Agricultural Science, in order to decide definitively after his basic education, which direction-specialization he will choose for his professional perspective. At the same time, with the joint curriculum, he has the opportunity to attend cognitive subjects of elective courses and the other direction, expanding his scientific entity.
In detail, after completing his studies, the graduate of the Crop Production department has as objects and activities:
Knows and applies the appropriate know-how for the cultivation and production of all plant species
